Selling Art #Part2 | Weds 25th Sept at 10am at Royal Quays Business Centre
September 25 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pmFree
PLEASE NOTE the venue for this workshop is Royal Quays Business Centre, Coble Dene, Royal Quays, NE29 6DE (free parking at the rear of the building).
At the workshop entitled ‘Selling Your Art to Galleries and Shops’ in July attendees heard how selling art and crafts is a very competitive market. We talked about how standing at craft fairs and markets can be fruitful, but it can also be soul destroying.
You’re now invited to ‘Selling Art #Part2’ on Wednesday 25th September at 10am. Once again, our business advisor Janice Ross will be joined by local artist Gail Curry. Between us we’ll delve further into ways to enhance your product and sell more. Reality is often the key. Let’s see if we can encourage you to take another step forward… You’ll explore:
1. How to crystallise your idea
a. What will people actually buy?
b. How much are they prepared to pay?
c. How confident are you about your creations? Who do you listen to? Who should you listen to?
In this section you’ll see and feel a selection of products which range from professionally presented, ready for market to amateur (don’t worry, we’re using our own examples!) Consider how much you would pay for a selection of other artists’ work? An often eye-opening exercise and always fun!
(Our invitation to you – Would you consider bringing in an example of your work to be reviewed within the session? The experts are on-hand to give you feedback from a professional point of view – go on! Bring your things in!)
2. Do you know how many you need to sell to make your living? (I can sell more online, can’t I?)
a. We’ll explore online selling and play with the numbers! (including examples of selling on Etsy)
b. How will you balance the money making element with the level of enjoyment you get from creating your art?
3. Why do artists do what they do? Because they love it!
When you take your next step, will it be a toe in the water? Or will you dive in?
To book your free place, follow the instructions in Registration Box below to take you through to Eventbrite which handles our bookings.
This workshop is open to North Tyneside businesses and residents only due to the funding criteria.
Gail Curry, Artist and Gallery Owner I made the decision to be a full-time artist and maker just over five years ago. That process began at my kitchen table, where I taught myself how to make felt. I have progressed from craft fairs to setting up a social enterprise and managing a studio gallery where I successfully sell thirty local artists work and my own. I am frequently approached by badly prepared artists, or by clumsy approaches. So let’s look at how to make your approach professional, successful and your work stand out from the crowd.
