Enjoymuzic, based at The Royal Quays Shopping centre is not only celebrating ten successful years in business but has also been crowned September’s North Tyneside Business of the Month.

The specialist music shop which was founded by husband and wife team Beth and David Arnott-Mellish has steadily grown over the years and is now well regarded as the go-to-place for musical instruments, books and advice in North Tyneside.

The committed duo, who are both passionate about music and playing instruments, are now looking forward to their second decade in business and to mark this milestone have extended their product range to include more top brands including Casio Pianos and Tanglewood Guitars & Ukuleles.

Commenting on their success Beth Arnott-Mellish said: “We set up the business ten years ago and despite challenging economic conditions we have enjoyed steady growth, moving from our initial smaller premises in Cullercoats to the flagship store we now have at the Royal Quays. We are fortunate to have built strong relationships with our suppliers so we have easy access to a wide range of products and have forged strong links with music teachers and schools in the area who without a doubt have helped to put us on the map. We have always aimed to be approachable and easy to deal with so use straightforward language instead of music jargon to ensure parents and beginners feel comfortable and can ask the questions they need to ask.

“We are delighted to have been named North Tyneside Business of the Month; it really means a lot to be recognised even after a decade in business and demonstrates the council’s support to businesses new and old. The timing is perfect as it coincides with out 10th anniversary celebration plans which include a party which will take place at our shop at Royal Quays on 28th September for customers new and old where we will be giving away over £1,000 worth of products in prize draws.

Karen Westgate, project officer at North Tyneside Council said: “Last month’s chosen business was a brand new company so it is great to be able to throw the spotlight on one of the borough’s more established businesses and recognise the valuable contribution that they bring to North Tyneside.”

Any SME in North Tyneside can nominate themselves or somebody they know to be crowned Business of the Month; simply provide a reason – ideally within 140 characters – why they think they should be selected and come along to the monthly business coffee morning held the first Friday of every month.

Nominations can be tweeted to The Business Factory using the #NTCBiz, posted on its Facebook page or emailed to
